Relating to the upgrade of the CH-47 Chinook

Background

An appeal to Congress of the United States to continue to provide funding to support upgrade of the CH-47D with the T55-714 FADEC equipped engine.

The CH-47D engine upgrade programs is presently in the Army budget and has been supported by Congress for initial efforts. The National Guard units in CT and PA have been upgraded with this system which provides increased lift capability, improved flight safety and reduced cost of ownership. In order to keep the program on it's most efficient schedule and provide the Guard with timely introduction of the important improvement, Congress must continue to support the upgrade at it"s originally planned rate.

Recommendation

The National Guard Association of Illinois urges Congress and the Department of Defense to continue the support of the CH-47D Engine Upgrade program at a rate of 60 ship sets per year.
