Relating to
T-700 AND T-701 ENGINE IMPROVEMENT KITS FOR UH-60 BLACKHAWK AND AH-64 APACHE HELICOPTERS

BACKGROUND

The Army National Guard is a significant component of the United States Army. The Army cannot perform its mission today without the ARNG. As such the ARNG must be equipped with the same modernized aircraft that is required for the Army. T-700 and T-701 Engine Improvement Kits are available for the UH-60 Blackhawk and AH-64 Apache respectively. These Engine Improvement Kits significantly enhance the performance of both Blackhawk and Apache Helicopters. This non-modernized fleet significantly reduces the capability of the United States Army and the Army National Guard in performing its mission in support of the National Military Strategy and support of the State mission.

RECOMMENDATION

It is the recommendation of the National Guard Association of Illinois that the National Guard Bureau, the Department of the Army, the Department of Defense, and the Congress of the United States, support a multi-year aircraft procurement program which includes engine upgrades until the T-700 and T-701 Engine Improvement Kits requirements for the Army National Guard are fulfilled.
